Senate passes Cybersecurity bill

S.1353, the Cybersecurity Act, allows the Secretary of Commerce to develop standards to reduce cyber risks to critical infrastructure (i.e Power grids)
Senator John Rockefeller (D- W.Virgiina) wrote the legislation, and was passed through a unanimous consent agreement. The bill tries to partner with industry professionals to help develop the cybersecurity standards.
This year has brought cybersecurity to the forefront of important issues that the nation needs to tackle. It affects all industries from Retail stores like Target and Home Depot to large media companies like Sony Entertainment. Poor cybersecurity can lead to the destruction of a company, a brand, and even an infrastructure.
